Membership

Membership in the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution and the La Puerta de Oro ~ San Francisco Chapter is open to any woman who:

 1.      Is 18 years of age, and

 2.      Can document her lineal blood line descent to an ancestor   who aided in achieving American Independence.

 Acceptable service covers the period between 19 April 1775 and 26 November 1783 and includes participation in military, civil, and patriotic service. Included in patriotic service are those who were doctors, nurses, ministers, and others who rendered material aid to the cause.

Applicants must prove their line by providing documentation for each statement of birth, marriage, and death, and link each succeeding generation. This also applies to previously accepted lineages for which documentation was not required at the time of acceptance.


FIVE EASY STEPS TO MEMBERSHIP

1.      Contact La Puerta de Oro ~ San Francisco Chapter: Membership Chair (contact information is on the Officers & Chairmen page). 

2.     Attend any or all of the following: La Puerta de Oro ~ San Francisco Chapter Meeting, Membership Tea, Lineage Workshop.  

3.    Obtain a DAR application worksheet and genealogy information from La Puerta de Oro ~ San Francisco Chapter Membership Committee to help you complete your application properly.

4.      Find the records to document your lineal relationship to a Revolutionary Ancestor.

5.      Complete and submit a formal application, along with your documentation, fees, and dues, to La Puerta de Oro ~ San Francisco Chapter NSDAR.
